Design Your Work

Join Point Road founder Sharon Lipovsky for a series of hour-long conversations about how to bring more joy and intention to the way you work. We’ll kick things off in week 1 with an exploration of what it means to apply design thinking, creativity and choice to our professional lives. Each week following Sharon will be joined by someone whose career path is sure to inspire and teach.

You can design your work.

Design Your Work with Sharon Lipovsky, Founder at Point Road Studios

Sharon Lipovsky kicked off the Design Your Work series with key distinctions for how to think about the way we work. We can’t change what we don’t see and these distinctions are there to help you gain greater awareness about the way you work and what else is possible. She then moves to share a process for how to go from where you are to where you want to be. She shares the building blocks of the Design Yourself Method and how this applies to the way we work. We discuss everything from vision setting to simplifying to storytelling to presence and present action. Questions surface around things like imposter syndrome, how to get around fear holding us in place and what body practices can support us in taking aligned actions.

If you are looking for a proven process for how to let go of what’s holding you back and embrace something better, this class is for you.

Design Your Work with Alx Block, Trust & Safety at Automattic

In this conversation Alx Block shares his remarkable career progression. One marked by data-driven problem solving, diverse visions for how things can always be better and a willingness to learn how to get there. Alx is humble, reflective and insightful. You will hear about how he went from selling books to book publishing. How he saw a gap in his organization and taught himself the skills to do the thing no one else wanted to do – and did it. How he made a measured leap to start and run his own business. How the business gave him so many things he wanted – like, freedom to work on his own terms and a great living that supported his family. And how he made the difficult but completely right decision to shut the business down and work for Automattic, an organization he has proudly supported for many years now.

If you are looking for inspiration on how to create a meaningful work experience on your own terms, look no further. Alx has got you.

Design Your Work with Lisa Blosser, Executive Coach at Watershed Leading

In this conversation Lisa Blosser shares some of the twists and turns of her own professional journey. She discusses with us her own creative process for manifesting her dream job traveling the world, learning from top leaders and teaching these individuals as well. And how she later took a leap into something new. Lisa offers up important questions for our own reflection about the work we do. Not just “what do I want to do”, but instead:

What is the environment that I want to be in?
Who do I want to be around?
What do I want to learn?

You Can Design Yourself

In this 3-part You Can Design Yourself learning series, PRS founder Sharon Lipovsky shares some of her favorite tools and resources on how to design yourself. Learn how to create your vision, cultivate the presence needed to act on it and let the story of who you are catapult you to where you want to go.

01: See What You Want

Vision comes from articulating what you want. The more clearly you can see your vision, the more easily you can begin moving toward it. In this class, we explore:

  • The power of vision
  • Practice seeing what you want
  • The PRS Vision Cycle
  • Tools and resources for expanding your own vision

02: Be Where You Are

We can’t move toward our future from anywhere but right here and right now. In this class, we explore how to:

  • Be present
  • Cultivate presence
  • Own your voice
  • Move with intention

03: Write the Story of You

We are writing our stories every single day but most of us aren’t conscious of it. The story you tell can help make meaning of where you have travelled thus far and move you on a path to where you want to go. In this class, we explore:

  • Why the stories we tell matter
  • How to consciously tell our stories
  • 4 interview questions that will shape your story
  • How to overcome common obstacles to telling your story
